The upcoming presidential elections have kind of put everyone in a tense mood but that won't kill my shoe mojo and in the spirit of the hashtags that have rocked the social media scene in the past few months, i bring to you #FLASHBACKFRIDAY. I would be taking you back in time to some styles that rocked the 1930's.

Many types of shoes were available in the 1930s, but classic pumps especially the mary-janes called sonnets back then were among the most popular.

1930s Shoes Styles:
T-strap : The T-straps came in from the 1920's into the 30's but with lots of perforations and cut-outs. The sandals were great for summer, and white was the most popular summer shoe color, though bright colors and some pastels were worn in too. I particularly love the cut out designs that were rocked then and which came back into the scene a lot last year.

Black One Strap/ Mary jane Shoes |
|
White Brogue Oxfords With Peforations and Cut-Outs |
Decorative Tongues:
Shoes featuring removable tongues, gave the wearer two shoes for the price of one! This style started with lace up oxford shoes but with the versatility sandals were involved. Some shoes even came with 2 tongues giving the owner three different looks, tell me about getting your money's worth.

The 1930’s set the tone for vintage shoes styles for the next 30 years and more. Many of the styles are still popular today although with a modern spin on them.
The cut out and perforated designs have been trending since last year and these are a few of my favourites.

Many of the concepts have been modernised with the heels higher and the designs more intricate but we can't neglect history when we rock these shoes. Thinking 30's?, look out for your T-bar straps, Lace up Brogues, the cut-out and perforated trends and you are spot on.

Some of the women that rocked the 1930's and had their fashion game on point (which for me is their shoegame) include Katherine Herpburn, Bette Davies, Judy Garland,Joan Crawford, Jean Harlow, Olivia de Havilland and many more. My favourite of them all would be Bette Davies, take away her Captivating bright eyes, her fashion sense was even more captivating.

I would be bringing you more vintage shoes series in subsequent posts. Vote Wisely, Stay Safe and pray for Nigeria.
XOXO, SOLEDIVAS.
