Not many may have heard of the shoe brand OSCAR TIYE. Launched in 2013, it is co-owned by Arabian born Amina Muaddi and her best friend Irina Curutz. My focus today and of course my

A brand born out of passion pursued and followed to success, Oscar Tiye has grown in just 2years of being launched. Inspired by Manolo Blahnik, Amina studied Fashion Communication at the European Institute of Design in Milan, then went on to intern at Condé Nast in Italy and worked as a Fashion Assistant for L’Uomo Vogue.

She later moved to the States, where she was the Assistant to Michael Nash, the celebrity stylist and Contributing Editor at GQ. She held on to her dreams of owning her own brand and after about a year with him, she moved on to the factories where she worked with artisans 3 - 4 days a week.

OSCAR TIYE BRAND LOGO

The name Oscar Tiye came about from her wanting to recoonect with her roots. The Logo is a scarab and Oscar is a pun on the word "scarab", Tiye she says she got from Queen Tiye, the Queen of Ancient Egypt.

Looking through her collection, Most of her designs are inspired by the Arab world. The MALIKAH carries the body of a scarab and the wings symbolize the scarab taking flight. The CASSANDRA is inspired by the great Mosque of Abu Dhabi.

Trying to make waves in a male dominated industry, she encountered her own challenges like having people ask her if she was the model trying out the shoes, which just leads me to always say, you have to believe in yourself.

I'm really excited about this one, the next years to come would be something to watch out for and i'd be following up on her religiously as i hope to cop a pair soon, would most defintely be the cleopatra sandals.
